Ex Libris UK Reports Major Increase in Regional Customer Base

New sales in all product areas include over 30% growth of UK e-customers 

 

Ex Libris™ UK is pleased to announce substantial growth in the UK regional user base during the first three quarters of 2007. Most pronounced, is an increase of approximately 30% in the number of institutions that have chosen to adopt one or more of the Company’s e-products—SFX context-sensitive link resolver, MetaLib metasearch gateway, and Verde e-resource management system. In addition to institutions that have joined the Ex Libris customer community during that period, a large number of Ex Libris customers in the UK have chosen to add more Ex Libris products to their suite.

NHS Education for Scotland, one of the newest additions to the Ex Libris UK customer base, has selected the ALEPH integrated library system and the SFX context-sensitive link resolver to unify 42 NHS Scotland libraries across eight regional Health Boards and six national services, plus two non-NHS partner services (all currently operating with a stand-alone ILS or no automated system). The project is already under way and scheduled to go live in early 2008.

“We are looking forward to realising the benefits of unifying the collections of NHS Scotland and our partners in the voluntary and education sectors (which include the Dementia Services Development Centre at the University of Stirling and the Scottish Motor Neurone Disease Association),” said Andrew Jackson, Senior Information Manager, Knowledge Services Group, NHS Education for Scotland. “This is a major step forward in developing the Scottish Health Information Environment, and will have tangible benefits on patient care and health improvement.”

Building on their previous investment in the Voyager, SFX, and DigiTool systems, the University of Strathclyde has selected the Ex Libris Primo one-stop solution for the discovery and delivery of local and remote resources. Jean Shaw, Head of Library Systems Division, reported, “We were very pleased when the opportunity to purchase Primo became a reality. Our users can look forward to a leading-edge discovery and delivery experience, an experience that they can really engage with.”

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) helps to provide better patient care by providing educational solutions for workforce development, by designing, commissioning, quality assuring and, where appropriate, providing education for NHS Scotland staff.
