OhioLINK consortium of 121 libraries will use Rosetta to manage, preserve, and provide access to digital collections
Chicago, IL—December 21, 2015. Ex Libris® Group, a ProQuest® company, is pleased to announce that OhioLINK has selected the Ex Libris Rosetta digital management and preservation solution for 120 academic libraries plus the State Library of Ohio. Rosetta will ensure long-term access to the OhioLINK Electronic Journal Collection (EJC), Electronic Book Collection (EBC), Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD) Center, and Digital Resource Commons (DRC) collections.
OhioLINK sought a preservation system based on the Open Archival Information System (OAIS) reference model that could integrate with its existing content management systems and support a wide range of processing workflows. As a large and complex consortium, OhioLINK required a solution that could be implemented and maintained in a way that suits a wide variety of content.
According to OhioLINK Executive Director Gwen Evans, ”Given the amount and variety of digital content OhioLINK owns and manages locally, our best option was to license and administer digital preservation software within the OH-TECH shared infrastructure. Responsible stewardship of our purchased and unique content is very important to our organization. We carefully considered all kinds of options and after a competitive bid process decided that Rosetta from Ex Libris would best suit our needs. We are looking forward to working with the Ex Libris team starting in January 2016.”
Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America remarked: ”We are thrilled to see OhioLINK joining the flourishing Rosetta community. This is a significant move for the state and ensures that future generations will be able to access digital collections in the state’s custody. We are looking forward to the contribution that OhioLINK members will make to Rosetta’s active and collaborative user community which meets annually and discusses preservation issues throughout the year.”
Installed in libraries and archives worldwide, Rosetta encompasses the entire digital preservation workflow, including the acquisition, validation, ingest, storage, preservation, and delivery of digital objects. Rosetta enables academic institutions as well as libraries, archives, and other memory institutions to manage, preserve, and provide access in perpetuity to institutional documents, research output in digital formats, digital images, websites, and other digitally born and digitized materials.
